Wow, a lot of new information has come to light since the last blog post! I’ve ascertained that there was, in fact, an Adam Sandler-helmed Candyland film adaptation in development at one point, before it ran aground due to legal disputes over the rights to the Candyland characters. That is several new dimensions of sad! But, I digress.

Candy Hearts has finished its run! I wanted it to be kind of a throwback to older, more formulaic Badnix stories, before taking a hard swerve and becoming something else. I like how it turned out! But it reminded me of how totally uninterested I am in drawing formulaic stories. So, don’t expect a lot more stories where “Stopping Kevin” is the whole plot in the future.

What lies ahead for Badnix? Well, right now I’m pretty burned out on drawing it, and I have a lot of other responsibilities that need my attention (one of which is a project that Badnix readers will be VERY happy about, whenever I get around to revealing it).

Not sure yet if I want to take a break for a bit, or maybe switch to a one page per week update schedule until I’m in a better place with things. What would be less annoying for you guys? Let me know in the comments (or by e-mail or whatever)! That would really be helpful.

In any case, more content should be on its way before too long. Will it be the next chapter in the World Warriors tournament saga? The story of Rog’s mysterious Ape Escapades? Or a third, completely different option? It will be that! The third thing! Oops, I spoiled it, sorry

Candyland Origins is definitely the title of a shelved movie project, right? Like, Hasbro has definitely tasked some poor hapless screenwriter to give the Candyland franchise “the Dark Knight treatment” to kick off the Chutes and Ladders extended universe. This is a thing that happens, I swear! Look up “Paul Fieg Play Doh movie” on an empty stomach.

Okay, no, that’s not what this blog post was supposed to be about. Today’s comic includes an excerpt from this earlier comic! I’ve mentioned it before, but the current storyline is pretty heavily informed by that one (even though it was kind of a string of filler comics).

Hey, you know what was a good storyline? That one with Perry’s sister! Yeah, she was – she was a fun character. Wait, didn’t she live in Food World? Ah well, I’m sure that won’t turn out to be relevant at all. I just like linking to things for no reason! THIS ISN’T A SPOILER OKAY

I’m sure the rest of the World Warriors fighter card collection will surface at some point (i.e. the next time I need filler comics), but for now I think it’s time to move on to the next new story!

What will Candy Hearts be about? Well, I can say that the two best stories to revisit as homework for this one would be Chain of Memories and Necromommycon. (Oh yes, I am not above including a bunch of foreshadowing and Lore Details in pseudo-filler “interlude” stories!)

But yeah, suffice it to say we’re checking back in with the characters who aren’t Sluri. It should be fun! Keep readin’.

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know about two games I worked on over the past week or so for the 2018 Dogpit Jam.

The first one is a solo game I worked on called Quest In Progress – it’s a short top down action game with a lil’ bit of a twist to it. I did all the art, coding, writing, music, etc. – if you like my other work it should be good for some fun ‘n some larfs. Check it out!

I also did a bunch of monster designs for a really neat weapon crafting game called Dungeon Profiteer! If you want to see some of my handcrafted goblins and ghouls knocking about in glorious 3D environments, you ought to go check that out as well.

Anyway, I’m not totally sure of when the next proper Badnix story will start just yet, but I’ve got some ideas for filler that should be starting on Wednesday. See you then~ 👋
