Today’s strip is a bit more on-the-nose than usual! Sorry if it flew over your head a bit. I’m hoping it’ll conjure up memories of a certain character from a certain classic Nintendo 64 RPG, for those of you who have had the pleasure of playing it.

Today’s comic also marks the point when I started doing some crazy experimentation with backgrounds! So those might be a little wacky as I try different things. Let me know if anything strikes you as particularly nice/godawful in the weeks to come!

Speaking of weeks to come – next week, we will begin a spooktacular new seasonal scary-line! (Which is like a storyline but with the word ‘scary’ in it.) What could it be?! I’m shivering in antici-decapitation!

Do not adjust your RSS feeds! I’m comin’ at you all Saturday-style to report a heap of Badnix-type news. First, and most importantly, reader Ryan Vance has submitted the first-ever piece of Badnix fanart:

Awesome! This is totally the kind of gag I would do in the strip. Much obliged, Ryan!

Second, I’ve given the site’s design a minor rehaul, cleaning up the navigation area under the comic and adding a whole rainbow of “social media” buttons to help you share Badnix with THE WORLD~! I’ve created them all pretty much from scratch, which means they’re extra-customized for maximum quality. (It also means that they might be broken in a hundred ways I haven’t noticed yet, so if you run into any problems, please let me know!)

Now, I’m not going to make any false promises about how clicking on these buttons will make you more awesome, improve your love life, and bring you riches beyond imagining. What I will do is show you a choice sample of the code I used to program them:

CONGLATURATION!!! We’ve made it, at long last, to the end of the first story here at Badnix.

Some backstory on this, er, story: I planned out these first 20 strips pretty much all in one sitting, back when I expected to be updating the site 5 times per week. Then I actually started to draw them, and I realized that it takes me roughly several eons to draw a single comic, and I scaled back to a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule.

Only problem is, this cut the pacing for these first 20 strips by about 50%, which I worry made them drag a bit… like, did we need 2 weeks of just Rog talking to Arika? Brevity is the soul of wit, and all that! Boo, myself!

Anyway, long story short, I’m working to make all the comics from here on out much faster – and much funnier, to boot!

For the next week or so, I’ve got a handful of stand-alone strips lined up. After that, we’re launching right into Story #2 – a rip-roaring solo tale about everyone’s favorite blue goblin-lookin’ thing. Don’t touch that dial, Super Players!
